Various media outlets are reporting a 16-year-old student has died after a shooting at a Knoxville, Tennessee high school.
On MSNBC.com:
Knoxville chief deputy Bill Roehl said a suspect was taken into custody Thursday morning after the shooting shortly after 8 a.m. at the Central High School cafeteria.
Authorities haven't released the names of the victim, who died at University of Tennessee Medical Center, or the suspect. Roehl said no other students were injured.
Roehl said the suspect and victim knew each other, adding, "This wasn't a shooting that was a random act.
"
As many children head back to school, bloggers are reacting to the shooting.
Kim writes, "It is a tragedy to lose such a young student and unsettling that another young student could commit such a crime. Luckily, it only took police 6 minutes to arrive at the scene, recover the gun and take the suspect into custody."
Gigi says, "My thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim and those of the attackers. As hard as it is to believe but the assassins family also suffer for what their children have done. I hope someone can shed some light onto the youth. This has got to stop."
On Twitter, Debbie says, "Another tragic shooting in Knoxville, 2nd in a month! This time at a high School, one child died. U never know what the day will bring."
