Day 2 of 61 Days to Better Health - You are what you eat.
Do you know what you're eating? I know it sounds silly, but you would really be surprised how much you can eat when you're just not paying attention. It's not always about how much you ate; what about your food choices? Are you eating processed food all day? Do you eat anything healthy at all?
Dressing up in a sexy costume for Halloween isn’t anything out of the ordinary. In fact, if you’re looking for a pre-made costume instead of putting something together yourself, it can be difficult to find something that isn't sexy. For many women it’s all about short skirts, plunging necklines, high heels, peek-a-boo cutouts, and clinging fabric.
What does better health mean to you? Eating better? Losing weight? Getting more exercise? Reducing stress? Well, it's actually all of those things, and more. It's also something different for everyone. I'm going to be taking a holistic approach for the next 61 days, looking at all aspects of healthy living. Some things may seem like common sense, but it's funny how we often need a little nudge or reminder.
I really like the idea of Love Your Body Day. If you normally don’t take the time to celebrate your body for what it can do, and rather focus strictly on what it looks like, here’s an opportunity to change things up a bit. After reading through some of the posts written that day, though, as well as some others related to body image that didn’t specifically mention Love Your Body Day, I couldn’t help but wonder if it really does any good.

Love Your Body Day; 1155 views
It's Love Your Body Day. That's a good thing, and, also, a very, very sad thing.
October 15th is Love Your Body Day from the NOW Foundation. They ask, "Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror?" Honestly, most days when I look in the mirror, I feel pretty OK about who I see. And grateful that I feel pretty OK about who I see, truth be told. But love? Hm...You know, when I love my body is when I'm using it. Feeling it.

To eat the candy, or not to eat the candy? That is the question.
Halloween is a tough time for anyone trying to avoid sugar and weight gain. My weaknesses are frozen Snickers and M&Ms. It's going to be hard, but I am going to try my best not to eat any Halloween candy this year. I know moderation is best...But, once I start eating the candy, I can't stop. So, I'm making a Halloween Resolution this year, to not eat any candy at all.
But, if you're looking for some less radical ways to avoid sugar and stay healthy during Halloween, check out some of these posts...

How do you learn what it means to be American? Can you learn it in school? What do you learn if Americans you see don't look like you or your family? Mrs. M writes that
The dolls and other resources currently available to my students do not represent their ethnic backgrounds nor those of other diverse communities and varied ability groups.

Angelina Jolie and I don't have a lot in common. She's a world-famous celebrity who is adored by millions and married to Brad Pitt; I am a blogger who is adored by tens, maybe dozens (on a good week), and married to an awesome guy that you've never heard of. But there is this: we're both mothers. And we're both in therapy.

I never intended to be a Spinster. I thought that I would get married. I never for a second thought of myself in the image of an "Old Maid." Hair in a bun, sucked up cheeks and bifocals. I'm older and a wee bit wiser. I have removed the last of the illusions of finding Mr. Right or "the one and only." I have even moved pass finding a somebody to love. I accept that it may or may not happen.
When I engage in cardio workouts at my gym, there is nothing I like more than a mindless magazine. (Unless I run. Then I can't consume junk food for the brain because it's too hard to focus on a page while on a treadmill. If I run, I love me some mindless television, like America's Next Top Model or I Love New York.) Fortunately, my gym often offers issues of Us Weekly, InTouch, and/or People to its sweaty members for their guilty workout pleasures.

So Gwyneth Paltrow has launched a new website. Which, I suppose, is better than launching yet another celebrity fashion line or celebrity perfume or whatever, but still - I'm finding it hard to feel entirely positive about this.
